New Orleans Inshore Fishing Charters

If you’re looking for a fun, easy day on the water, this is the trip for you. We fish out of Hopedale, about 45 minutes from New Orleans, and most days we are targeting redfish and speckled trout in the marsh.

Great for beginners, families, and anyone who wants a fun day on the water.

What this Trip is Like

Most people booking this trip want a good day on the water, a real shot at catching fish, and somebody who knows how to make the day go smoothly.

That’s how I run it.

I try to keep the trip relaxed, straightforward, and fun whether you’ve fished your whole life or this is your first time stepping on a boat. Some days we’ll cover water and stay on the move. Other days we may slow down and really work an area that looks right. It just depends on the conditions and what gives us the best shot that day.

If you’re looking for a trip that feels laid back but still serious about catching fish, this is exactly what I built this charter around.

6-hour inshore trips start at $900.

1–2 people: $900
3 people: $1050
4 people: $1200
5+ people: Call or text me for details

A Quick Explanation of Our Normal Day

This short video gives you an idea of how we try to structure our typical day on the water.

What We Usually Catch

Most days on this trip, I’m targeting redfish and speckled trout.

Depending on the time of year, tide, wind, and water conditions, we may also run into black drum, sheepshead, or flounder. I always fish for what gives your group the best shot at a fun, productive day instead of forcing one exact plan.

If you have a fish you really want to target, tell me when you book and I’ll give you a straight answer on what is realistic that time of year.

Inshore Fishing Charter FAQs

Is this a good trip for families or kids?

Yes. Inshore marsh trips are calm and protected, which makes the day easier and more comfortable for kids and first-timers.

What if I’ve never fished before?

No problem. Captain Jonathan will help with everything from casting and baiting hooks to landing fish. This trip is a great option for beginners.

Do we fish for trout and redfish on the same trip?

Some days we will if possible. We target whatever is biting best based on tide, wind, and conditions. Redfish and speckled trout are the main targets.

Can we keep the fish we catch?

Yes — you keep your legal catch, and fish cleaning is included.

Where do you launch from?

We launch from Hopedale, Louisiana (St. Bernard Parish), about 45 minutes from New Orleans.

Is this trip available year-round?

Yes. Inshore fishing around Hopedale is productive year-round, although target species and conditions change with the season.

Do we need a fishing license?

Yes. Anglers 18 and older need a Louisiana saltwater fishing license. A simple short-term/3-day option is available online.

What should we bring?

Bring drinks, snacks, sun protection, polarized sunglasses, and a light weather layer. You should also bring an ice chest to take your cleaned fish home.
