How far is Hopedale from New Orleans?

Trips launch from Hopedale, Louisiana, about 45 minutes from downtown New Orleans. It is a short drive and gives quick access to productive marshes and inshore water.

What is included in the trip?

Rods, reels, tackle, bait, ice, and fish cleaning are included on our trips. Captain Jonathan provides everything needed for a productive day on the water. Red snapper trips have fuel added separately.

What should I bring?

Bring drinks, snacks, sunglasses, weather-appropriate clothing, sun protection, and a small cooler or ice chest to bring your cleaned fish home. Please no glass bottles on the boat.

Do I need a Louisiana fishing license?

Yes. Anglers age 18 and older need a Louisiana saltwater fishing license before the trip. Most guests purchase the 3-day charter passenger license online before arrival.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Weather decisions are made by Captain Jonathan with safety first. If conditions are not safe to run, weather-related trips can be rescheduled within 1 calendar year.

Trips launch from 5617 Hopedale Highway, St. Bernard, LA 70085. This location gives fast access to redfish, speckled trout, and other inshore species.

Are kids welcome on trips?

Yes. Family-friendly trips are a priority and Captain Jonathan can help recommend the best option based on the age of the anglers and conditions.

How early should we arrive?

Please try to arrive a few minutes early so everyone is ready to launch on time. Captain Jonathan will confirm the exact meeting time before your trip.

What To Bring

To make the most of your trip, we recommend bringing the following:

  • Sunblock (preferably no spray sunscreen) to protect your skin.

  • Food and drinks (beer is fine, but no glass bottles).

Most trips include steady action and opportunities to catch multiple species throughout the day. At the end of the trip, your catch will be cleaned and bagged so it’s ready to take home and enjoy.

Deposits & Cancellations

  • A $400 per day deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your trip.
  • Outside 30 Days: Deposits can be used toward a rescheduled trip within one (1) calendar year of the original date.
  • Within 30 Days: Deposits are non-refundable.
  • Within 10 Days or No Shows: Full trip price will be charged.
  • Weather-Related Cancellations: Determined by the captain and eligible for rescheduling.
  • Cancellation requests: must be emailed to CaptJonathanAllen@gmail.com.

Louisiana Fishing License Requirements

All anglers over the age of 17 are required to have a Louisiana saltwater fishing license before their trip.

Most customers purchase the 3 day Louisiana saltwater license for charter passengers, which is currently $20.

Fishing licenses can be purchased online through Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries before your trip.
