New Orleans Redfish Charters
Private redfish fishing trips 45 minutes from downtown New Orleans.
If redfish are what you really want to target, this is one of the best marsh trips I offer.
What a day on this trip is usually like
Most days, I’m making the game plan that morning based on wind, water level, tide movement, and how clean the water is. Some days we may stay tight in the marsh and fish ponds and shorelines. Other days we may move around more depending on where the better water is. That’s a big part of guiding here — adjusting to the conditions instead of forcing the same plan every trip.

Why People Book My Redfish Trips Near New Orleans
Less time running, more time fishing
Launching from Hopedale means we can get into productive marsh water quickly instead of burning a lot of time in the boat.
Trips built around redfish
These trips are centered around redfish first. I adjust where we fish based on tide, wind, water level, and the kind of conditions we have that day.
Private trips guided around your group
Every trip is private, so I can keep the day simple for beginners and families or make it more focused if your group already fishes a lot.
Redfish Fishing Near New Orleans
Redfish are the main reason a lot of people book this trip. They fight hard, live shallow, and make a great target whether it’s your first charter or you fish all the time.
Fishing out of Hopedale gives me access to some of the best marsh water anywhere near New Orleans. Depending on conditions, we may fish shorelines, drains, ponds, broken banks, or protected interior water where redfish are feeding.
Common places I look for redfish include:
-
Marsh drains on falling tides
-
Shallow ponds when water is up
-
Shoreline grass and points
-
Protected areas when the wind shifts
-
Interior marsh edges with bait movement
Best Time for Redfish Near New Orleans
Redfish can be caught year-round in southeast Louisiana. There really isn’t one perfect month for everybody, but some seasons are better depending on the kind of trip you want.
Spring
Spring is a strong time for redfish as fish start spreading through ponds, shorelines, and marsh drains.
Summer
Summer can be very good, especially early in the day and around moving water. Start times matter more once the heat sets in.
Fall
Fall is one of my favorite times for redfish. Fish can be aggressive, and it’s one of the most consistent times of year to book this trip.
Winter
Winter can be excellent too, especially on calmer days when cleaner water settles into protected marsh areas.
There is no true off-season for redfish fishing near New Orleans.
FAQs
Is this trip good for beginners
Yes. A lot of the people I take redfishing are first-timers. I’ll walk you through everything and keep the trip simple so you can enjoy the day and have a real shot at catching fish.
Do we keep the redfish?
If the fish are legal to keep and you want to keep some, yes. If you’d rather just catch and release, that’s fine too.
Where do trips launch from?
Trips launch from Hopedale, Louisiana, which is about 45 minutes from downtown New Orleans and gives us quick access to the marsh.
Do I need a license?
Yes. Anyone 18 and older will need a Louisiana saltwater fishing license. There is a 3 day charter pass available for fishing with a guide.
Can I bring my own rod and reel?
Yes, if you have something you like fishing with, you’re welcome to bring it. I’ll already have gear on the boat, so you don’t need to bring anything unless you want to.
